What they say about Bali
Yesterday I have been browse the net and accidentally found some interesting words describes this little island, taken from people reviews in Yahoo! Travel who has come to Bali from many years ago and experience the fascinating life of Balinese people.
In the 70’s western people who has visited Bali describe Bali as “The Island of thousand Temples” and “The Island of God” … and what more they say about this island?
“Paradise in Motion”
Bali is one of those places in which you have to go and experience. It offers so much in rich culture, and also a spiritual experience as well. Bali is cheap if you know where to go, and it’s also a great romantic place as well. If you’re newly weds or just want to go somewhere exotic with the one you love, with beautiful sunsets and wonderful sights, it’s sure to make a good romantic getaway. And the people there are really nice and very hospitable. From the beautiful beaches of Kuta, to the magical temples of the mountain tops. Bali has great things to offer for the traveler who wants to get away from it all, and have peace of mind in Paradise.

“Dream vacation”
I have been to Bali twice in the past four years, each time for close to a month. I was there just before the bombing and then again this May/June. I can’t recommend the island more highly, although I would suggest NOT going in high season. May and June are perfect! I ate some of the best meals and stayed in great places. If you want to try the beach, Seminyak is still bearable and quite pretty. Villa Kresna next to the Oberoi is a great place and I have stayed there both times. Just go!
“Tropical Paradise”
Great for:
Beaches, Scuba/Snorkeling, History/Culture, Budget Travel, Family Vacations
My favourite experience was watching the sun go down at Jimbaran Bay. The entire beach is covered in restaurant tables, and you can choose your own piece of seafood to BBQ.
If you’re young and into partying stay at Kuta or Legian.
If you’re a little older, or prefer a quieter pace Sanur is beautiful. You can walk along the beach and stop at one of the little restaurants or shops.
I suggest you go to one of the big department stores in Kuta or Denpasar to get an idea of prices, so that you will have an idea of what a fair price is. Be prepared to bargain!
Unbeatable Fun!
So many things that you can do in Bali. My favourite things to do in bali is shopping, do watersport (parasailing, banana boat, ‘fly fish’, etc.) and Every time I visit Bali, I should come to Jimbaran to have ’seafood’ dinner on the beach.
The best area to stay, actually, depends on your budget and preferred activities. It can be in Kuta, Nusa Dua, Tanjung Benoa, or Legian. Me, my self prefer Kuta because it’s a cool place and it has easiest access to everywhere including Bali’s capital, Denpasar and airport. While Nusa Dua actually is the best place to stay in, but it’s a luxurious area and you need more money to stay in there.
Tips: If you come to Bali, better if you bring credit card rather than debit card. In some parts of bali, not much merchants that provide debit card facilities. Others, if you’re a woman, it’s highly recommended to bring tissue/handkerchief to everywhere since the public toilet in Bali, mostly, is not good (a little bit dirty)
If You come to Bali, not only pleasure that you’ll get, but also different, cool and amazing experience.
Living in the 70’s
I first traveled to Bali when I was 17-18 years of age with a friend from school in 1976. My cousin had just come back and I just had to go and see the place for myself.
We stayed at the Bali Beach Hotel in Sanur the original and probably the first in Bali. In 1978 i went back to Bali with a nursing friend, and my only regret is that i did not take more photos. Kuta was so different then, lots of losmens, the bemos and the cheap places to eat. An oval plate of Nasi Goreng piled high, wow, and fried chicken in coconut oil and the fried potatoes. The lane to poppies restaurant was that just a dirt lane, and opposite the restaurant was a paddock. Likewise opposite Bemo corner in Kuta it was just trees. At the end of Kuta Beach Road there was a bar and it is where I had my first taste of an orange juice done in the blender with ice. I will never forget Tony and Teng from Poppies taking us on motorbikes and we went off the main road and through the trees and came out onto a beach. Then we ended up at Uluwatu. I remember the view and the monkeys. It was to be 14 years before i returned to Bali with my husband and friends in 1992 and we have been back there every year since 2004 our next trip in may 2007. I want to die in Bali because at least i know the whole village will turn up to my funeral. We have good friends in Bali now and help to pay for one family’s daughter to go through school. A good place to retire you bet!
Wonderland
I want to visit Bali Island very much, because I have seen a Korean film before. It is a love story happened in Bali Island. I was moving by the story, at the same time, I was deeply impressed by the fantastic sceneries there.
Bali’s natural attractions include miles of sandy beaches, picturesque rice terraces, fast flowing rivers, deep ravines, pristine crater lakes, sacred caves, and lush tropical forests full of exotic wildlife.
The blue sky, the beautiful sea view and the golden beach. How wonderful it is!
Bali, truly “The Islands of the Gods”
I went to Bali in April and I was surprised at the Beautiful scenery! I gotta tell that Kuta Beach wasn’t so nice but there is a private Beach, called Dreamland Beach, although kinda hard to reach but it was like a Secret Heaven.I love Tanah Lot and Mount Batur.
Bali is also pretty safe now with all the Security Guards and I heard they Put CCTVs on almost everywhere. Everyone is also sooo Friendly.
In my Opinion Hawaii or any other Islands can compete with Bali for beaches, But the Beauty of its Cultures an Dances is Beyond other Island.
My tour guide said that in May 2008 a Gargantuan statue called GWK (Garuda Wisnu Kencana) in Bali will welcome Tourist to Bali as it will be the Tallest Statue on Earth (145m!) surpassing Liberty Statue (50m)! Bali always Amazes Me! I want to go there again 2008!
