Bali “Nyontreng” 8 July 2009

July 7th, 2009 Posted by Dee

Who you like to be your next president?, well it’s a very hard question for me right now. Okay, I guess I will close my eyes and see what my hands pick.

The Indonesian election day is on 8 this July, and I have only one day off to go home and back again to work on the next day. I hope everything is gonna be okay in Bali during the election just like the previous election.

There are three candidates for the president; Megawati - Prabowo, Sby - Boediono, and JK-Wiranto. Well who ever get elected, we hope they will remember those promoses and words that they will make Indonesia better in the future.

Perfect Weather in Bali

July 5th, 2009 Posted by Dee

For Balinese, the month between June - October is the best months of the year. Bright sky all day long with not too much of humidity, a bit chill at night time, is just a perfect weather.

And may be because of the same reason, people are celebrating with some festival are now going on in Bali, concentrated in Art Center Denpasar, the “Culture Festival” or we call it “Pesta Kesenian Bali” (PKB) is a month long. Dances and gamelan from all over Bali are gathered here to show their best performance.

As the winds blows more intents than other months of the years, kids and kites lovers will take over the sky with colorful flying kites. It’s so beautiful. I often go to the beach before the sun set, I want to see it in its most full shape, coz nothing block its view. I am sure you agree with me…

You will soon find out the feel of the Galungan Day before, the Hindu people in Bali will put the “penjor” before the day as a sign for a big event to come. Penjors will decorate all the road in Bali, more specific is in the front of every houses compounds.

And second big holiday is the “Nyepi” Day or litteraly mean “Quite Day” or “Day of Silence” occure on 26th March just 2 days before the Kuningan Day, usually there will be a “Ogoh-Ogoh” parade on Nyepi’s eve, but this year, Bali’s government decided not to, as it the same time with the General Election in Indonesia.

To my fellow brothers and sisters out there, embrace your self for Galungan & Nyepi day!
