The largest lake overshadowed by the active volcano is located in Bangli Regency, at the north-east of Bali. The place is a great day trips, trekking or just to get away from your daily activity.

The view are stunning and it will be a great experience if you spend the night in the crater and climb Mt. Batur at dawn. The best way to visit the crater is with your own trasportation. Several best view are the crater rim toward the Lake. Rim temples include the Ulundanu Batur which is located in the main road.

Down inside the caldera you can cross to the Village just at the edge of the lake called Trunyan. But be warned that the people here can be quite aggresive. The only unique thing here is that the people not burried the dead but put the body on the ground (just like a graveyard), and the strange thing is the body not causing bad odor or infected the villages.

The road are good and new, circles the volcano rim and just not far from the lake.
