Today is the day of the 62nd years of Indonesian Independence day, everyone is celebrating this important moment including Balinese. Since first day of August, each house in Bali begin to decorate their houses and offices with the “Merah-Putih”, the National Flag.

Indonesian attained Independence from the Dutch in August 17, 1945 in a long fight since 1940. Since then, we celebrate every year as our independence day. And as it is a National holiday, government offices, schools, banks, and some businesses are closed.
