A really quite Nyepi 2009
On this year, Indonesia will be schedule for the General election, and for some security reason the incoming Nyepi’s eve on 25th March, there will be no parade for Ogoh-Ogoh. If you guys who plans to visit Bali this year and to watch that parade you might need to change your plan.
Ogoh-Ogoh parade is the bigger version of what is called “pengerupukan” a some kind of ceremony to symbolize for the “Bhuta Kala” or evil spirit to get their ass off the house compound and to purify and balance the house spiritual atmosphere, so every one should live in harmony. So each houses in Bali will still doing the “pengerupukan” ceremony in their own house with their own way, make some noises and shouted to evil spirit to get out from their house compound.

Due to security reason ogoh ogoh abolished in 2009, when one of the interesting attractions that can be seen by the tourists. hopefully next year there will be ogoh ogoh

It’s a shame that Ogoh Ogoh has been cancelled for security reasons it’s a really great ceremony.
