Bali Internet Connection

Bali has better internet connection right now, much better speed, more choices for any packages. For my daily internet connection I used StarOne from Indosat, the cheapest connection I know, it is only (from official Indosat latest announcement) IDR 99k/month, quota 1Gb, still enough for me though.

If you have a company in Bali that rely in internet connection, there are more choices but a lot more expensive, because the use to give dedicated IP or big bandwidth. For example my office where I work use Centrin with connection 512Mbps and uplink 128. Other option would go to Blueline, one of the best and fully support ISP in Bali.

And I heard a lot from Jakarta blogger, there is one new internet provider (FirstMedia.com), unlimited 300Mbps with only 99k/monthly without quota limit, wow, soon they will spread their wings to Bali, cant wait!

Yeah, if that news could be reality I will move from speedy to firstmedia. Beside in firstmedia fastnet instalation is free of charge. It should be a great alternative :) Thanks for sharing ;)

pake speedy? masih lebih OK daripada saya pake starone, lemot-nya itu hahah … Btw, let us wait for firstmedia, it could be a new but best option than the others.

    To the people that know…

I just moved in to the jimbaran area (up the bukit), and I want to have internet connection. I don’t have a phone nor cable line. I heard that if I buy a modem I can connect through cards like simpati. I have a laptop with wi-fi… Why do I need an extra modem then? Shouldn’t I just as one of the servers for a router?
I am sorry I am quite ingorant in these matters.

    thanks,
    diego

    #diego,
To connect internet with GSM card or CDMA, you will need a modem because they just like your telephone line (a fix one), it need modem to dial your number and connect to the server operator. Wi-fi in your laptop only for if you are in a place where they provide internet via Hot Spot. Like Tiara Kuta food court in Kuta Galleria, they provide free internet for their customer with laptop.
