Bali - short intro

Here is a short introduction for who still have no idea about this small island.

Bali is one of thousands of island in Indonesia, located at 8°25′23″S, 115°14′55″E. Floating between Java and Lombok island. Bali with the capital city Denpasar is part of 33 provinces in Indonesia, the island majority of Indonesia’s small Hindu minority.

Geography
Bali is situated 3.2 km east of Java and approximately 8 degrees south of the equator. East to west, the island is approximately 153 km wide and 112 km north to south (95 by 69 miles, respectively), with a surface area of 5,633 km². The highest point is Mount Agung at 3,142 m (10,308 feet) high, an active volcano that last erupted in March 1963. Mountains cover centre to the eastern side, with Mount Agung the easternmost peak. Mount Batur (1,717 m) is also still active. About 30,000 years ago it experienced a catastrophic eruption — one of the largest known volcanic events on Earth.

Sanur and Nusa Dua beach

If you really get enough with the crowded beach of Kuta or Legian, let us turn our head to the east, and the south of Denpasar. Recently I went for a ride to two beaches, Sanur and Nusa Dua.

Sanur
Sanur is located at the east coast of Denpasar Regency, a holiday alternative to Kuta. The water is shallow and the strong waves breaks on the reef far way from the beach. I see many locals comes with their family and totally different as in Kuta. There are many water activities in this area; Canoing are the most popular among the local as the water is shallow and calm. I saw also young Balinese loves this place to hangout with their friends.

How to Get Arround in Bali

For some reason, in order to look around comfortly in the search of some good and tourism spot in Bali, you will need to hire/rent car or motor bike. Roads in Bali, especially in Denpasar are very busy. Some available public transportation are just not enough to serve the growing of new road, places, and amazing numbers of new vehicle (cars, motor bikes, etc).

Car

Suzuki Katana is so common for car rental in Bali, cheap and so efficiency. Many car rental have this kind of car. Although the size is not for ten people inside but good enought for couple or more to travel in this small island. There are many more kind of car for rent such as: Kijang(Toyota), Suzuki Taruna, Panther(Diesel Mechine), etc.
