Jimbaran Seafood

September 7th, 2006 Posted by Dee

Jimbaran is not just well known with its 5 star resorst, but also with the seafood restaurant spread on along the beach. There are many restaurant with the beach sea view, offering not just delicious food but also spectacular sunset view.

The seafood is fresh and display in aquariums or packed in ice. Varieties of fish, squid, clams and large prawns are offered here. Normaly people order the seafood by weight (kilogram), and it is grilled fresh and comes with potatoes or white rice and seasoned vegetables. The food is Balinese-style grilled seafood, and it is spicy.

With the gorgeous beach and beautiful sunset, Jimbaran is a truly romantic place for couple in honeymoon.

Odalan (temple anniversary)

September 6th, 2006 Posted by Dee

I recently live in Batu Belig, which is a modern village located at the west Denpasar. And it has been 10 years now. My home town is Negara, the village I was born called Yeh Embang, a little village close with mountain and sea. Negara is a little town located about 120 kilometers to the west of Denpasar.

Every six month or during the Galungan, I spent a day or two to attend my family temple anniversary. Visiting my village is always a fun, great trip, nice scenery, and meet my family (again). My family temple which is also where my grandfather lives located near the mountain, where most people lives in a very simple way.

Four days ago, I went to Negara (the capital town of West Bali) to attend the “Odalan (annniversary) of my family temple”. The ceremony begin from 11am starting with “Mecaru” mean to purify the temple from the negative force. The Mecaru ceremony includes sacrification of animal, usually duck or chicken with a certain color (commonly black or white). After finishing the Mecaru ceremonya all the family member gathered for praying, than the ceremony end after all the member drinks the holy water. Dining together after the praying with a special Balinese dishes was so special.

Those beautiful memories was captured some with my digital camera, but most were captured within my heart.
